Jamon Flowers
Director of Academic Affairs
Dr. Jamon H. Flowers is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Educational Administration and Policy (EDAP) program in the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia. He was born and raised in a small rural town in the foothills of North Carolina. A first-generation college graduate, he has earned degrees and certifications from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, the University of Minnesota, and the College of William & Mary.
Prior to joining the EDAP faculty, Dr. Flowers served as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. He has professional experience in rural, suburban, and urban school settings. Additionally, Dr. Flowers has served in administrative roles at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. A highlight in Dr. Flowers’s career was completing a fellowship at the U.S. Department of Education. During that time, he worked with the principal and teacher quality programs and the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Black Americans.
When he is not teaching, Dr. Flowers serves as a consultant to multiple school districts. His research interests include rural educational leadership and race and educational leadership. More specifically, Dr. Flowers's research focuses on understanding the intersectionality of place, race, educational leadership, and opportunity. In his free time, Dr. Flowers enjoys spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
